Changed Data Formats for Vector Data
Date: 2007-12-19
The manifold data formats which are normally offered by the GeoDatenZentrum of the BKG will in 2008 be adapted to new requirements.
Support for the “EDBS format” will end in mid-2008, this format will be replaced by the GML-based NAS format (see AdV portal for “Publications”).
The ESRI-specific ArcINFO formats “Coverage”, “Export/00”, and “Generate” will also no longer be offered as standard formats.
The preferred delivery format for vector data is presently the industrial standard “SHAPE”. As an alternative support for the delivery of simple datasets to be represented in tabular form, the use of text files in the CSV structure (exchange format of table calculation programs, separation sign semicolon, sign coding UTF-8) is favoured.
The changed items within our spectrum of formats will also be available step by step within our updated product documentation.
