Product Update: Geographical Names „GN250” and “GN1000”
Date: 2008-01-08
The datasets are now available in the data formats “shape” and “csy” as version “31.12.2006”.
The UTM32s and UTM33s geo-referencing is now formally based on the ellipsoid GRS80 / datum ERTS89, following the international standard. This is definitely apparent for the projection data contained, as far as they are included in the actual data format. In the case of cartographic data and tasks for medium and small scales GRS80/ETRS98 is identical with WGS84. The formal reference to GRS80/ETRS89 allows to exactly address to them the EPSG codes 25832 and 25833 which are important for web service activities. This geo-referencing does not include any leading zone ciphers in the Easting.
The interpretation of the UTM co-ordinates with leading zone ciphers in the Easting, a very frequent method in Germany, is supported through the availability of UTM32w and UTM33w geo-referencing (reference WGS84) and UTM32e and UTM33e as well (reference GRS80/ETRS89).
A complete Online Documentation and Test Data are available for reading and downloading from the GeoDatenZentrum.
