The EuroRegionalMap (ERM) is a multifunctional pan-European topographic reference dataset at medium scale (1: 250 000), which is available in the new version 2.2.

This dataset now comprises 32 countries: 26 EU states (except Bulgaria), 4 EFTA countries, the Republic of Moldova as well as the administrative units for Croatia.

This vector dataset has enabled the compilation of topographic basic geospatial data, on a cross-border level and in accordance with a uniform specification, from the respective national basic geospatial data as maintained by the National Survey and Cadastre Authorities.

A homogeneous vector dataset was established on the basis of the cross-border national basic geospatial data of the European Survey and Cadastre Authorities by making use of uniform specifications.

The EuroRegionalMap (ERM) v2.2 was updated primarily with regard to the transport network and the process of networking within the cross-border regions. This way, data content and quality could be further improved.

Extension of the dataset by the Faroe Islands as well as by the administrative units and boundaries for Croatia constitute the principal modifications.

The "Full_Europe" version contains a continuous network of ferry lines. Each ferry line is in the "FERRY_LINES" table connected with the respective ports of departure and destination through the thematic "FerryID" identifier.

Furthermore, now each feature type contains in the ERM two additional attributes: The International Country Code (ICC) and a Symbol Number (SN).

The country code was assigned in accordance with the respective geographical position of a feature, and the symbol number may support visualization of the ERM data.

In the EuroGeographics product webpages you will find more detailed information as well as the relevant product specifications, test data and different ordering possibilities.

Within the frame of the EuroRegionalMap production BKG participates intensively in the further development of the specification and the technical realization of product compilation in particular with regard to the use of new GIS techniques, which takes place under the project guidance of IGN Belgium and NLS Finland, respectively.
