New EuroBoundaryMap on the market
Date: 2008-04-10
The new version EuroBoundaryMap v2.0 with the reference date of January, 1st 2007 has been finalized by BKG.
This administrative reference database covering 39 European countries at scale 1: 100 000 offers a pan-European unique identifier for all administrative units and levels.
A relation to the corresponding statistical codes (LAU2, NUTS) as used by National Statistical Offices and Eurostat is also realized.
EBM v2.0 will be distributed in ESRI geodatabase and also in Shape and MapInfo formats.
EuroBoundaryMap allows the access to the geometry of administrative units of each national administrative level as well as to the NUTS-regions as defined and updated by Eurostat. Names of all European administrative units and levels are stored in Unicode (UTF-8) and ASCII - code.
For the first time this version allows the distinction between land and water areas of administrative units. This improvement of the product has been required above all for statistical applications.
More detailed information, the product specification, test data for download and distribution can be found on EuroGeographics product webpages.
EuroGeographics and the BKG as the EuroBoundaryMap product coordinator are expecting for EBM v2.0 similar high sales figures as have been achieved for the previous version.
