EuroBoundaryMap v6.0

EuroBoundaryMap (EBM), the reference data base of the European administrative units, is conceived for applications at the scale 1:100 000 and has been completed by the BKG by order of EuroGeographics. State of update is 1st January 2009. 

The map includes

• The geometry
• The names
• European-wide unambiguous keys
• Official national keys
• A relation to the NUTS regions for the EU27 administrative units

for all European administrative units from the local up to the state (Land) level.

Corresponding to the contractual obligations this updated reference data base of the European administrative units and a final report have been delivered to Eurostat in January 2010.

Eurostat is using the EBM v4.0 to derive and provide several high-topical datasets within the GISCO data base of the European Commission.

The contract between EuroGeographics and Eurostat has once more been prolonged for one year, so the BKG as product coordinator is now working together with all European EBM partners to keep this reference data base updated as of 1st January 2010.
