Data modelling

The first preparation of the ATKIS® components basic DLM, DLM250 and DLM1000 has progressed far or already been completed. However, the linkage with regard to their contents as provided for in the ATKIS® concept is still lacking since the datasets were collected independently from each other from different sources. The priority tasks in the field of the ATKIS® development and production therefore consist in integrating the existing components with the aim of using revision data from the basic DLM for the purpose of updating the follow-up DLMs.

To achieve this aim, BKG has entered into a development cooperation with several university institutes. At the University of Hannover the "Institut für Kartographie und Geoinformatik" (Institute for Cartography and Geoinformatics) and the "Institut für Datenbanken und Informationssysteme" (Institute for Databases and Information Systems) are elaborating a concept for the integrated modelling and administration of all landscape models in the uniform structure of a scale-crossing database. At the Technical University of Munich the "Lehrstuhl für Kartographie" (Chair for Cartography) deals with developments on automized assignment of objects with different representations through Data Matching.

Conversion of the ATKIS® models to ISO-based data modelling of the AAA® model constitutes a first step in this direction. You may get details on the AAA® model from the AdV. Presently, at BKG the feature type catalogues for the digital landscape models DLM250 and DLM1000 are being developed.
