Digital Terrain Models
A Digital Terrain Model (DGM) describes the terrain forms of the earth’s surface by means of a point set arranged in a regular grid, which is georeferenced to planimetry and height.
The DGM are suitable for a wide range of uses:
- generating automatically Digital Orthophotos,
- simulating flood scenarios,
- searching for the best tracks for traffic projects,
- for flight simulations
and for many other things.
The BKG offers – in cooperation with the AdV and EuroGeographics – Terrain Models for Germany and Europe with various grid width and accuracy.
