Digital Terrain Model for Europe

The creation of the datasets constitutes a cooperative project of European surveying and cadastral authorities, data distribution being done by EuroGeographics.

EuroDEM

EuroDEM is a digital representation of the ground surface topography of Europe with an average resolution in the scales 1 : 50 000 – 1 : 100 000.

The dataset describes the distribution of terrain heights in the European countries (EU27 plus some more countries). The product has the following specifications:

  • Height accuracy: 8-10 meters
  • Grid width: 2 arc seconds (approximately 60 meters)
  • Collected as a mosaic of the data from Europe’s National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies
  • Harmonised at the borders of the countries
