• Administrative Boundaries at the scale 1 : 250 000 (VG250)
• Administrative Boundaries at the scale 1 : 1 000 000 (VG1000)
• Administrative Boundaries at the scale 1 : 2 500 000 (VG2500)

covering the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany the

• Basis DLM
• information from the survey administrations in the federal states
• information from the statistical offices in the federal states and
• information from the Federal Statistical Office

are evaluated.

The dataset of VG250 cover the complete number of administrative units of all hierarchical administrative levels from the national level down to the local administrative level (commune)

showing:

• their boundaries
• statistical keys and name of the administrative unit and
• the specific denomination of the administrative level in each federal state.

The dataset of VG2500 cover the complete number of administrative units of all hierarchical administrative levels from the national level down to the administrative unit "Kreis"

showing:

• their boundaries
• regional key and name of the administrative unit and
• the specific denomination of the administrative level in each federal state.

The administrative boundaries are annually updated. Additional interim editions will be published, i.e. in case of extensive territorial reforms. However, there is no claim to completeness for the interim editions.
